Kaya Iloilo drops transfer bomb, signs Jarvey Gayoso

MANILA--Just as the Independence Day weekend is about to end, Kaya Iloilo rattled the Philippine football community.

On Sunday night, the PFL powerhouse announced that it has signed Jarvey Gayoso for the upcoming season.

The transfer was made a few days after the club also announced that it now has a new coach in Graham Harvey.

The signing came as a shocker as Gayoso was supposed to join Muangthong United in the Thai League 1 also this upcoming season along with fellow former Azkals Development Team member Mar Diano.

Both Gayoso and Diano are currently in Sharjah as part of the Philippine Azkals team competing in the final window of the joint FIFA World Cup and AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers second round.

The Azkals already booked a place in the third round of the ACQ following a 3-0 win over Guam on Friday night and Maldives' 0-5 loss to China early Saturday.

Meanwhile, Kaya Iloilo's season will actually begin with a showdown against Shanghai Port in the AFC Champions League qualifiers on June 23 at the Pathum Thani Stadium in Bangkok.

The winner will become the last member of Group F, which also has bubble host BG Pathum, Ulsan Hyundai, and Viettel in it.
