MANILA—The Shiga Lakestars of the B.League have called off their formal introduction to Kiefer Ravena as their newest signing.

In a statement on Sunday, the Lakestars said that their scheduled press conference the day after has to be postponed to avoid further complicating the situation regarding Ravena's current contract dispute with the NLEX Road Warriors of the PBA.

The PBA board of governors ruled on Saturday that Ravena must honor his deal with NLEX, effectively barring him from signing up with Shiga.

The PBA was to relay the board's decision to the B.League itself later in the night.

"A press conference with Ravena and us at this time may add more confusion on the situation. We will continue discussions to resolve these issues," the Lakestars stated.

They then said that the press conference will be moved to "a more appropriate time."

Shiga concluded its statement by saying sorry to its fans.

"We apologize to have worried you all, and we would like to ask you all for your patience and support," the team further said.
