MANILA—Kiefer Ravena's move to Japan could be hampered by one major road block.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said on Wednesday, moments after the Shiga Lakestars announced Ravena's signing, that the combo guard might encounter contract disputes with the league.

"May UPC (uniform player contract) siya," Marcial said.

He then explained that the said UPC puts Ravena under contract with the PBA as well as his mother team, NLEX.

With that said, Ravena, who just signed a new contract with the Road Warriors last September, might not be allowed to move elsewhere, particularly to the Lakestars.

This could put a dent to the cause of Shiga, which is starting a new chapter in its B.League stint by bringing in new head coach Luis Guil Torres and Ravena himself should he have been cleared to go.
