Allein Maliksi sizzles as Meralco back on winning track after tripping Phoenix

MANILA--Allein Maliksi came out waxing on Wednesday night Meralco bounced back from its first loss in the PBA Philippine Cup with a 91-80 whipping of a struggling Phoenix at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Maliksi scored 24 points off the bench even as he sparked the Bolts' breakaway from the Fuel Masters in which the Bolts outscored the Fuel Masters, 27-16, in the second quarter.

Maliksi, who was 8-of-16 from the field, also grabbed seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals as Meralco moved up to 3-1, tying Rain Or Shine and San Miguel for third place in the standings.

Chris Newsome added 23 points on 6-of-12 shooting, four rebounds, seven assists, and six steals.

Mathew Wright tallied 29 points on 6-of-10 shooting from three-point range, four rebounds, and three assists for Phoenix, which fell to 10th place at 1-3.
