Gilas vents ire on Saudi for 1st win in King Abdullah Cup

MANILA—Gilas Pilipinas bounced back from its shocking defeat to Egypt by drubbing Saudi Arabia, 77-62, in Day 2 of the King Abdullah Cup at the Prince Hamzah Sports Hall in Amman on Tuesday.

Behind a perfect game from Balti Baltazar, Gilas pulled away from Saudi in the second quarter with a 24-16 scoreline before extending its lead to as high as 20 in the third.

Baltazar finished with 16 points, making all of his five field goals including four triples and two free throws, three rebounds, and four assists to lead Gilas, which moved up to 1-1 in the standings.

Ange Kouame and Isaac Go each added 10 markers.

Gilas will next face Jordan's Team B on Wednesday at the said arena.

The outcome, however, will not affect Gilas' record in the said pocket tournament.

Mohammed Alsuwailem put up 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting, five rebounds, one assist, and one steal for Saudi Arabia.
