MANILA--Kiefer Ravena issued a public apology on Saturday after a contract dispute arose between the NLEX Road Warriors and the Shiga Lakestars following his decision to sign with the latter for the upcoming B.League season.

The six-foot guard re-signed with NLEX for three years last year only to ink a contract with Shiga earlier this year.

The debacle came to an end when the PBA board of governors finally cleared Ravena to play for the Lakestars starting this October or just after his Philippine Cup stint concludes.

"I apologize for any hurt feelings and stress that this has caused the PBA and to my team, the NLEX Road Warriors," Ravena said in an online press conference put up by PBA commissioner Willie Marcial.

Ravena first said sorry to Marcial and the rest of the PBA board, who he admired for "doing their best to lead the PBA in meeting the changes and challenges brought about by the pandemic."

"Hindi ko po sinasadya na dagdagan pa ang sakit ng ulo niyo. Pasensya na," he further said.

He then lauded the PBA board for the help in making the clearance possible.

"The esteemed board of governors, Boss Alfrancis [Chua], Boss Robert [Non], Boss Rene [Pardo], Boss Dickie [Bachmann], Atty. Raymond [Zorilla], Atty. Mamerto [Mondragon], Vice Chairman Bobby [Rosales], Boss Eric [Castro], Boss Silliman [Sy], Boss Ricky [Vargas], Boss Rod [Franco], and Boss Al [Panlilio] have been gracious throughout this whole process, and I would also like to thank them for their patience and professionalism," Ravena continued.

Ravena also said sorry to the fans for causing such "controversy and distraction," saying, "It was not my intention."

Now that the contract issue has been settled, Ravena can now focus on finishing his season with NLEX and preparing for his stint with Shiga starting Oct. 2.

"I am very much excited to play for Shiga this season. I'm excited to wave the Philippine flag and prove that the Filipino can," he further said.
