MANILA--The PBA will be giving a treat to its fans in its return to action after a seven-month wait.

Commissioner Willie Marcial, upon confirmation that the league will indeed begin its 46th season on July 16, said that half of the 12 PBA member clubs will quickly see action right on opening day.

"Triple-header po tayo," Marcial said in an online press conference.

He also said that there will be more three-game cards as the Philippine Cup goes along for the rest of July.

Beginning August, however, only doubleheaders will be played.

"Pag pumasok na ang 3x3, doubleheader na lang tayo kasi maglalaro yung 3x3," Marcial further said.

Games will be played every Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

The schedule of the season opening conference, according to Marcial, will be released by Monday.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Marcial said that despite 95 percent of the sportsmen already fully vaccinated, RT-PCR testing would still be needed.

"Three days bago mag-opening lahat po ng kasali, coaches, players, at empleyado natin [ite-test]," he bared when they are scheduled to be tested.
