MANILA—The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) is determined to launch the 2021 season of the Philippine Football League (PFL) after its virtual meeting with the six participating clubs to discuss the current developments last July 13.

According to a statement on Friday night, the kickoff is set on Aug. 21, and the PFL has already submitted the proposed safety guidelines of the PFL Closed-Circuit Protocol to the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) and Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

The PFF National Training Centre in Carmona, Cavite will once again host the season to accommodate the six participating clubs and the three additional teams which are currently in the process of acquiring their respective PFL Club License for them to play in the league.

The PFF Club Licensing's First Instance Body will convene soon for the assessment of the three aspirant teams.

The Biñan Football Stadium is also being eyed as a suitable match venue according to the league officials.

The PFF officials also met with representatives from Qatar Airways to streamline the league's marketing and media thrust for this season as the partnership with the world-renowned airline company marks its second year.

The winner of the upcoming PFL 2021 season will secure a seat in the 2022 AFC Champions League while the runner-up will go through the qualifying phase.
