MANILA—Phoenix bolstered its guard rotation a bit on Tuesday night after picking up Alfrancis Tamsi.

The PBA announced the signing first reported by Gerry Ramos of Spin.PH.

Tamsi will take over the void left by Chris Banchero as the spitfire point guard will sit out some more games due to a calf injury he got during the preseason.

Known as a defensive specialist, Tamsi became a vital player for Mandaue offensively in the Visayas leg of the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup, even tallying 12 points in Game 5 of the conference finals won by the team against Talisay.

Tamsi became the third player from the Mandaue side who got a PBA call-up after Finals MVP Ping Exciminiano and Gryann Mendoza were recalled by TNT.

Tamsi might likely play his first game as a Fuel Master on Wednesday when Phoenix battles NorthPort in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
