MANILA—Remedy Rule has qualified for the semifinals of the women's 200-meter butterfly swimming event of the Tokyo Olympics after entering the "Sweet 16" after the preliminary heats on Tuesday night at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre.
Rule finished last in the six-woman Heat 3 after clocking in at two minutes and 12.23 seconds.
However, she placed 15th overall after all the three heats have been evaluated, well within the semifinal cut.
The event drew only 17 participants, but Hungarian tanker Katinka Hosszu failed to start in Heat 2, so Rule would have qualified anyway.
The semifinals are set on Wednesday.
