MANILA, Philippines – Choco Mucho made short work of Chery Tiggo, 25-18, 25-22, 25-21, to put themselves a win away from the finals of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference Sunday at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

Kat Tolentino led a balanced scoring as the Flying Titans needed just an hour and 31 minutes to dispatch the Crossovers for a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-three series.

Tolentino finished with the team-best 11 points on nine attacks while Ponggay Gaston and Bea De Leon each contributed 10 for the Rebisco-owned franchise, which lost to the very same team in straight sets in the final game of the eliminations Saturday.

Maddie Madayag had three blocks for nine total points, while Regine Arocha got seven featuring three service aces.

Down 20-22 in the second set, Choco Mucho piled up 12 consecutive points bridging the second and third sets and held on from there. It even took advantage of Chery Tiggo's 24 miscues, while firing 12 service aces and blocked eight over-all.

Dindin Manabat was the only Crossover in double digits with 17 points on 15 hits, even as Jaja Santiago and Shaya Adorador both struggled offensively for nine markers apiece.

The Oliver Amandro-mentored squad aims for a sweep with Game 2 set on Monday at 2pm.
