MANILA--Filipino basketball fans got a piece of good news to start September as the PBA reopens shop after a month-long postponement due to a spike in COVID-19 cases.

The league will resume action on Wednesday with a triple-header at the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gymnasium in Bacolor, Pampanga that includes an anticipated showdown between CJ Perez and his former team.

Terrafirma and San Miguel will face off in the second game of the three-match schedule for Wednesday at 3 p.m.

This will be the first meeting between the two clubs since the Dyip sent Perez to the Beermen for a trade package that included the number eight pick in the recent draft, which the Dyip used for James Laput.

The scoring showdown between Perez and top pick Joshua Munzon would have made the match more fun to watch, but Munzon is recovering from a dislocated finger that ruled him out for the rest of the season-opening Philippine Cup.

The Terrafirma-SMB match is sandwiched between two games pitting the remaining undefeated teams before the league took a break for the rest of August.

TNT, currently at 3-0, will take on Blackwater in the first game at 12:30 p.m., while 4-0 Magnolia battles Meralco in the nightcap at 6 p.m.

The Bossing are still looking at that elusive first win of the season just like the Dyip.

On the other hand, the Bolts look to sustain their great start to their campaign and finally put some blemish to the Hotshots' own hot streak.
