MANILA--Cris Nievarez plans to express his gratitude to his coaches for helping him achieve a great run in the Tokyo Olympics by sharing the wealth.

The Filipino rower said on Thursday that he is looking to give some of his cash reward to his coaches once he receives it from the MVP Sports Foundation.

"Unang-una, may ibibigay ako sa mga coaches at teammates ko," Nievarez said in the Usapang Sports online forum of the Tabloid Organization in Philippine Sports.

He then explained, "Hindi lang naman ako ang naghirap nang buo sa kampanya namin para mag-qualify sa Olympics."

Nievarez finished 23rd out of 32 rowers in the men's single sculls competition of the Tokyo Olympics last week, way outside of the podium finish.

Despite this, Nievarez would still receive monetary rewards as the MVP Sports Foundation is pledging PHP500,000 each to those who missed out on an Olympic medal for their gallant stand.

While he might give some to his team, Nievarez said that his family remains the top priority.

"The rest, mapupunta sa family ko kasi sa ngayon, nagpapatayo ako ng bahay," added the native of Atimonan, Quezon.
