MANILA--The PBA is gearing up for a comeback next week after getting the clearance to hold the resumption of the Philippine Cup in Bacolor, Pampanga.

Following the approval from Pampanga governor Dennis Pineda and congressman Dong Gonzales, the games will take place at the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym in the said town.

"I would like to express my great appreciation to the endorsements of Gov. Dennis Pineda and Cong. Dong Gonzales. Sobrang laki ng tulong nila," Marcial said on Wednesday.

Once everything gets cleared, the games might resume by Sept. 1 at the soonest.

"Kung walang problema, start na tayo Sept. 1," he further said.

Unlike the last time the league played in Pampanga, in which a full bubble was set up in Angeles last year, the teams have separate accommodations.

Among COVID-19 protocols set for the Philippine Cup resumption are weekly RT-PCR tests for the teams and antigen tests on the morning before their scheduled games.

Games will be played from Wednesday-Sunday on an alternating number of games per night.

Triple-headers will be played every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, while twin bills will be played every Thursday and Saturday.
