Barons drub Spartans in Quezon derby in Pampanga

MANILA--In the showdown pitting the two NBL teams representing Quezon Province, the Barons showed their might over the Spartans.

The boys from Quezon's second district clipped the lads from District 4 with an 89-65 blowout in the NBL Chairman's Cup on Sunday night at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando City, Pampanga.

The Barons pounced on the Spartans especially on the defensive side, holding them to 31 percent shooting and forcing them to 28 turnovers, 16 off steals, all game long.

Worse, the Spartans could not also get it done at the foul line, only making 10 out of 23 free throws.

Arjay Dongog led the Barons with 18 points, three rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block.

Domenick Vera, Christopher Lagrama, and Alex Ramos each added 12 markers even as Ramos completed a double-double off the bench with 12 boards.

Khenth Guiab put up 23 points, 10 rebounds, and one steal, while Jared Sevilla made 18 markers, 13 caroms, two dimes, one swat, and one interception for the Spartans.
