MANILA--The Philippine Football Federation, which is mainly handling the PFL, is set to convene at the end of the month to possibly schedule the new start of the league's postponed season.

This as rumors have swirled that the PFL is planning to call it off entirely this year and just set the new season early next year, right after the AFF Suzuki Cup.

Games and Amusements Board chairman Baham Mitra said on Thursday that the league has informed him of the said crucial meeting.

"As of now, the latest update is that they will be meeting on Sept. 30 to decide to play this year or early next year," Mitra said during the Usapang Sports online forum.

He then said that PFF secretary-general Ed Gastanes might divulge more information about the fate of the league as he will speak at the 3rd Professional Sports Summit on Sept. 29.

Carmona, which is supposed to host the matches anew amid the COVID-19 pandemic, has been placed under modified enhanced community quarantine along with the rest of Cavite for the rest of September, putting the PFL season, which was rescheduled for a Sept. 25 kickoff, on hold again.
