MANILA--Caloy Yulo is going home from the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championship a double medalist.

Yulo capped his stint in the said event with a silver medal in the men's parallel bars competition following the medal round on Sunday night in Kitakyushu, Japan.

Yulo, who topped the qualifying phase, actually seemed to be keeping the pole position in the final after the third performance of the night out of eight was good for 15.3 points.

However, Hu Xuwei of China, sixth in the order, performed a near-flawless stunt that was good for 15.466, eventually winning him the gold.

Still, the two-medal Sunday for Yulo headlined by his gold in the men's vault final earlier in the day more than made up for his tough fifth-place finish in the men's floor exercise final on Saturday.

Shi Cong capped a 1-3 finish for China after scoring 15.066 in the final.

Switzerland's Christian Baumann, who was second in the first round, struggled in form during the final and dropped to eighth place with 12.333 points.
