MANILA--The University of the Philippines has joined the one-and-done fever after getting the commitment of bruising forward Henry Galinato.

Through the help of FilAm Nation Select, the six-foot-six Galinato, who played four US college basketball seasons for Benedictine University Mesa, will be joining a UP squad that has essentially a new identity after some of its main stars from the last UAAP season already turning pro and are now making waves in Japan.

“He’s excited to play for the University of the Philippines to bring home a championship,” FilAm Nation Select founder Cris Gopez said on Thursday upon confirming the news.

Former Head Coach Bo Perasol, who is now the Fighting Maroons' development program head, personally held a private workout with Galinato and two other prospects.

Expected to backstop incoming rookie Carl Tamayo at UP for the upcoming UAAP Season 84, Galinato averaged 13 points and 9.6 rebounds a game for Benedictine-Mesa last season in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
