MANILA—Magnolia used a huge fourth quarter rally to repulse Meralco and take Game 1 of their PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series through an 88-79 win at the start of the Final 4 stage on Sunday at the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.
It was the Hotshots' turn to romp the Bolts late, going on a 25-5 run midway through the fourth quarter to steal the best-of-seven series opener just when the latter looked to be pulling away after dominating the third.

Paul Lee added 17 points, two rebounds, and one assist.
Bong Quinto made 14 markers, four boards, and 10 dimes for Meralco, while Raymond Almazan added nine markers on a perfect 4-for-4 field goals, three caroms, two assists, and four blocks for Meralco.
