Paranaque edges Muntinlupa in NBL play

The Paranaque Aces recovered in time to depose the Muntinlupa Water Warrios with a 77-67 win in the Chooks-to-Go NBL Chairman's Cup on Saturday at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando City, Pampanga. 

Despite nearly blowing a 21-point lead, Paranaque got back on track in the fourth quarter to boost its quarterfinal bid as the elimination round reaches its homestretch.

Up 18-12 after the first quarter, the Aces appeared to have totally taken control of the game after opening the second with a 15-0 run for a 33-12 cushion with 8:14 remaining before halftime.

The Water Warriors, however, began reclaiming control of the game later on and were just down by four, 53-57, at the end of the third period.

Paranaque then began the fourth quarter with a 7-0 blast to up its lead back to double digits, and the team held on until the end.

Jielo Razon led the Aces, who have tied the Laguna Pistons for the seventh spot with identical 4-5 records, with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists off the bench. 

JR Galit added 13 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 2 steals.

Biboy Enguio erupted for 30 points with 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 blocks, and 1 steal for the Water Warriors.

The Aces will face the Quezon Barons at 4 p.m. Sunday to close out its elimination round assignments.
