Christmas 'Clasico' set as PBA releases last playdates for 2021

MANILA—As highly anticipated, the latest chapter of the "Manila Clasico" is happening right on Christmas night as the PBA unveiled the schedule for next week's Governors' Cup action.

Ginebra will face Magnolia in the nightcap of the doubleheader scheduled on Dec. 25 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

As also revealed, the league has reverted to its Week 1 schedule format for the weekend matches, which means the showdown between the Gin Kings and the Hotshots, which fall on a Saturday night, will tip off at 6:45 p.m.

In the curtain-raiser for the Christmas twin bill at 4 p.m., NLEX takes on Phoenix.

The week will begin with a Wednesday doubleheader that would see Blackwater battling Alaska in the first game at 3 p.m. and Meralco colliding with TNT in the second game at 6 p.m.

A Boxing Day bonanza will cap 2021 in 5-on-5 play on Dec. 26, which will begin with Alex Cabagnot playing San Miguel for the first time as a Terrafirma player at 4 p.m.

The Tropang Giga, on the other hand, will take on the Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters in the main game at 6:45 p.m.

Dec. 29 has been reserved for the grand finals of the inaugural PBA 3x3 season also at "The Big Dome".
