Ahead of clash with Jeremy Miado, Lito Adiwang already thinking about rematch with Jarred Brooks

QUEZON CITY—Lito Adiwang admitted on Saturday that he is keeping an eye on a possible rematch with tormentor Jarred Brooks.

In an interview with Dugout Philippines, Adiwang said that he is aiming for another shot at Brooks, who submitted him at ONE: NextGen 3 last October.

What motivated Adiwang to consider fighting Brooks again is the criticisms that he received when their match, which was pre-recorded before the live ONE: NextGen 1 event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, was finally aired.

"That's one of my goals now kasi yung mga terms and words na naipaparating sa akin na exposed ako or yun yung weakness natin. Of course, I want to show that we can improve and that it's not our weakness pero nagkamali lang ng game plan dito," Adiwang said in a special send-off event for the Team Lakay fighters competing at ONE: X at the Novotel Monet Ballroom.

He added that he miscalculated Brooks in their fight as he thought his opponent will try to go toe-to-toe with him in striking only that he quickly went for the takedown that set up his submission win.

"It's an eye-opener na lang sa akin—a big lesson to improve more on me," Adiwang added.

He hopes the improvements he had to learn following his tough defeat to Brooks and even against Koha Minowa will be put into good use as he battles fellow Filipino Jeremy Miado at ONE: X on March 26 at the said arena.

"I'll make use of the experience [against Minowa and Brooks] para i-capitalize ko kung paano ko gagamitin yun sa iba," Adiwang further said.

However, whatever happens to his showdown with Miado, Adiwang might need to fall in line for a while as Brooks already issued an open challenge to his fellow Team Lakay stalwart, Joshua Pacio, for the ONE strawweight title.
