PASIG--Another Filipino brand will be a global sponsor for FIBA events.

The international federation's 3x3 arm will be partnering with Chooks-to-Go for its 3x3 World Tour Masters this year.

FIBA 3x3 head of events and partnership Alex Sanchez and Bounty Agroventures Inc. president Ronald Mascarinas signed the memorandum of agreement at a formal event at the grand ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria here on Monday.

"This is a huge milestone for us. The best is yet to come," Soriano said.

The partnership is seen as a major step for the Philippines in its bid to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

One major benefit of this partnership, according to Soriano, is that Manila Chooks will be seeing action in more FIBA 3x3 club events, which would mean more needed 3x3 points for the Philippines, currently ranked 31st in the world, to gain an outright seat in the Paris Olympics 3x3 event.

"This will mean the participation of the Chooks-to-Go 3x3 team around the globe, participating in different 3x3 World Tour Masters," Sanchez said.

The Philippines will be hosting two World Tour Masters this year, one in Mandaluyong and one in Cebu.

He added that FIBA 3x3 will also push for the development of 3x3 basketball in the Philippines, especially at the grassroots levels, through this partnership with Chooks-to-Go.

"We will help in the development of 3x3 in the whole region in all age categories," Soriano further said.

Accepting his company's new responsibility, Mascarinas said, "I'm truly honored to be given the privilege to become the global partner of FIBA 3x3."

Chooks-to-Go is the second Filipino company to become a FIBA sponsor, the other being Smart Communications, which is sponsoring the 5-on-5 international events.
