Magnolia scorches in offense, trips Phoenix to set semis vs. Meralco

MANILA--Paul Lee sizzled early on to lead Magnolia's 127-88 quarterfinal blowout over Phoenix on Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum that handed the former the second spot in the PBA Governors' Cup semifinals.

Lee erupted for 20 points in the first half, the most he scored in the said period since also dropping 20 in 2020, as he set up the Hotshots' breakaway over the Fuel Masters that even saw the former breaching the 100-point mark late in the third quarter.

Lee finished with 25 points on 5-for-7 from three-point range, six rebounds, and two assists to lead Magnolia, which will face Meralco in the semifinals starting on Wednesday.

Mark Barroca added 18 points, three rebounds, seven assists, and four steals.

Du'Vaughn Maxwell fired 32 points, nine rebounds, and six assists for the Fuel Masters.
