PASAY--Ateneo has ensured itself of at least a playoff for a twice-to-beat advantage in the UAAP Final 4 after trouncing 89-75, on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

A far cry from their first-round meeting, the Blue Eagles quickly clobbered the Bulldogs in the first half, opening a 61-36 lead entering the intermission.

NU slowed Ateneo down offensively in the second half, but the latter's huge lead, which at one point was at 33, sufficed to take home the win.

Dave Ildefonso made 17 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and one steal to lead the Blue Eagles, who moved up to 11-0 for the season and won their 37th straight game overall since Season 81.

Ange Kouame added 16 points, two rebounds, and two assists.

Ernest Felicilda and John Figueroa each made 12 markers for the Bulldogs, who dropped their fourth straight loss and fell to 4-7.

This means Adamson (5-6) remains solo fourth pending the result of the Saturday nightcap between Far Eastern University (4-6) and the University of the East (0-10).
