STA. ROSA, Laguna—The Philippine contingent's bid to take the Chooks-To-Go FIBA3x3 Asia-Pacific Super Quest began on an ugly note as Butuan Chooks suffered an 8-21 defeat to Mongolian side Sansar MMC Energy in the second game of the eight-team event on Saturday at the Ayala Mall Solenad.
Anand Ariunbold outscored the entire Butuan squad as he led Sansar with nine points.
Enkhbaatar Onolbaatar added six points, Sukhbat Batzorig, who converted the match point with 4:26 left, chipped in four points, and Gansukh Avarzed scored Sansar's other point.
Joshua Webb made three markers, Jonjon Gabriel added two, and Alvin Baetiong and Ron Dennison each tallied one for Butuan.
In the opening game, Zaisan, the other team from Mongolia, stunned 2019 champ Tokyo Dime, 21-12.
