MANILA, Philippines — UP stays strong and ended the first round of the UAAP S84 Basketball with a win against the FEU Tamaraws, 83-76, Saturday evening at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Zavier Lucero led the Fighting Maroons with his career high of 27 points, 11/16 fg, 3 out of 4 3-point fg, 12 rebounds and three steals. Carl Tamayo and Ricci Rivero both chipped in 12 and 10 points for the Fighting Maroons win.
LJay Gonzales led the charge for the Tamaraws with 20 points and eight rebounds. Xyrus Torres raining threes made him chipped 17 points while Emman Ojuiola also chipped in double-double 17 points and 13 rebounds.
UP Fighting Maroons ended the first round of the UAAP S84 with 6-1 while the FEU Tamaraws ended the first round of the UAAP S84 with 3-4.
Second round of the UAAP will start on Holy Tuesday. UP will face the NU Bulldogs while FEU will try to bounceback as they face the Adamson Soaring Falcons.
