Azkals U-22 opens their SEAG quest in strong rout vs. Timor Leste

MANILA - Before the 31st Southeast Asian Games officially opens, the Under-22 national team of the Philippine men's football already commenced their daring gold medal chase that started in precedent and convincing win against the Timor Leste, 4-0 at Viet Tri Stadium, Friday afternoon.  

In the early nine minutes of the first half, Christian Rontini scored the first goal for the young Azkals with his straight bullet header left the Timorese keeper no chance to tap it, several seconds after Sandro Reyes threw solid attempt from the penalty box which saved already by the keeper. 

Team captain Stephan Shrock steal the ball from aggressive moving Timorese and locate Dennis Chung free on the right flank and the goal-scoring equalizer of the 2019 match vs. Cambodia doubled the lead for the Philippines after he lob the ball through to goal mouth at the 56th minute of the game. 

Finally, the Kaya FC Forward Joven Bedic joined the scoring party for the young Azkals as he redeemed himself from the two solid attempts went missed at the 77th minute after he dribbled it against two Timorese defenders breaking the last-man standees for Timor Leste's backline. 

Oskari Kekkonen sealed the deal after he punched the four goal for the national youngsters with two minutes after Bedic's goal. 

The young Azkals will faced the defending champions and biennial games host, Vietnam on Sunday, who stood victorious against 2019 silver medalists Indonesia at 3-0.
