Cebu City falls short vs. world no. 1 Ub at start of Manila Masters pool stages

PARAÑAQUE—Cebu City Chooks came just close to scoring a huge upset only that Ub Huishan NE stomped its class late to take a 21-17 win to open the festivities for the pool stages of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Manila Masters on Saturday at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay Activity Center.

In the Pool A match-up, Cebu never wavered despite facing no less than the top 3x3 club in the world in Ub to open their campaign, keeping the match close for most of the juncture and even took a 14-12 lead.

Ub eventually showed its dominance by taking over in the endgame even as Dejan Majstorovic finished the job by scoring the match point through a layup with 1:07 left in the game.

Majstorovic prevailed in his scoring showdown against Mac Tallo as he led Ub with 12 points.

Marko Brankovic added five points, whild Nemanja Barac chipped in four.

Tallo finished with 11 markers, Mike Harry Nzeusseu put up five, and Brandon Ramirez tallied one for Cebu.

Ub 21 - Majstorovic 12, Brankovic 5, Barać 4, Stojacic 0.

Cebu 17 - Tallo 11, Nzeusseu 5, Ramirez 1, Huang 0.
