Gilas continues SEA Games women's 5x5 basketball blast, clips Vietnam

MANILA--Gilas Pilipinas' hot run in the Southeast Asian Games women's 5x5 basketball event continued on Thursday night after a 118-87 statement win against Vietnam on Thursday night at the Thanh Tri District Sporting Hall in Hanoi.

Gilas erupted early on, outscoring Vietnam,40-20, in the first quarter to set up the blowout victory.

Khate Castillo led Gilas, now 3-0 in the round robin tournament, with 25 points on seven triples, one rebound, two assists, and one assist off the bench.

Gabi Bade and Afril Bernardino each added 14 points with the latter grabbing 12 rebounds for the double-double.

Clare Castro made a perfect 5-for-5 from the field for 10 points alongside three rebounds.

Thao Vy Truong erupted for 30 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Mailee Jones added 29 points also on seven long toms, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal for Vietnam, which fell to 1-2.
