MANILA--Two days ago, Javi Gomez De Liano fans were ecstatic to see the six-foot-five wingman play for the PBA's perennial crowd darlings Barangay Ginebra.
On Tuesday, Gomez De Liano finds out his PBA career will begin somewhere else.
The Gin Kings let go of its eighth overall pick, sending him to the Terrafirma Dyip along with Brian Enriquez in exchange for number two pick Jeremiah Gray.
The PBA Commissioner's Office announced the approval of the trade just as it confirmed the approval of the trade sending number seven pick Tyrus Hill to Converge from NLEX with David Murrell for a 2023 first-round pick.
This essentially means Ginebra is willing to wait for Gray, who suffered an ACL injury during last season's PBA 3x3 cagefest, to heal up.
Commissioner Willie Marcial expects Gray to be OK by October at the soonest.
Gomez De Liano, on the other hand, will join forces with fellow Gilas Pilipinas pool member Isaac Go and high-flyer Joshua Munzon to lead the way for Terrafirma.
