MANILA--San Juan assistant coach Yong Garcia will not be seen in the team's bench for the entire month of June as the multi-titled club and also the MPBL slapped him with a long suspension lasting for the entirety of June following his spitting incident during their Monday night home game against Valenzuela at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Showcasing their "highest standard of professionalism in the sports industry," the Knights announced on Tuesday that Garcia has been suspended for the full month essentially without salary.
"The San Juan Knights-Go for Gold with our highest standard of professionalism in the sports industry is hereby suspending Asst. Coach Efren Garcia for one month without any allowances and incentives in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League regular season 2022. Our SJK-GFG management will not tolerate such unethical act that damaged our beloved city and our name in basketball," the Jinggoy Estrada-owned franchise said in a statement.
Garcia has already apologized to Casajeros and both teams for the said incident.

The Knights will play three games for the month of June.
San Juan will host Zamboanga next Monday also at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
The Knights will then play back-to-back road games, first against the Pasig-Sta. Lucia Realtors on June 13 at the Ynares Sports Arena and afterward against the Binan City Heroes on June 25 at the Alonte Sports Arena.
The league added that Garcia must pay the fine before he can return to the San Juan bench and he must also submit a negative RT-PCR result three days before the team's next game after its trip to Binan.
