Sansar edges Antwerp in major Manila Masters upset

PARAÑAQUE—Sansar scored a huge giant killing on Saturday as they stunned world number two Antwerp with a 21-13 win in the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Manila Masters at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay Activity Center.

Sansar matched Antwerp's intensity with a tight defense even as frustration hit the Belgian at the wrong time.

Enkhbaatar Onolbaatar sealed the Mongolian squad's upset with a free throw with 1:08 left.

Anand Ariunbold scored 11 points, nearly matching Antwerp's output, to lead Sansar.

Onolbaatar added eight points, while Batzolboo Borgil chipped in two.

Rafael Bogaerts put up five points, Nick Celis and Thibaut Vervoort each made three, and Caspar Augustijnen tallied two for Antwerp.

Meanwhile, Ub Huishan NE swept Pool A with a 22-13 victory against Zavkhan MMC Energy.

With the win, Ub booked the first seat in Sunday's quarterfinals, leaving Zavkhan and Cebu City Chooks to dispute the other quarterfinal spot for Pool A in their showdown later Saturday.
