MANILA--It took Blackwater the last game of its PBA 46th Season campaign to get its one and only win of the season.
Now, three games into the 47th season, the team now has two wins for the year.
The Bossing already surpassed their win total last season after pipping the NorthPort Batang Pier, 97-90, in a Philippine Cup action on Saturday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Blackwater broke loose early into the fourth quarter, going on a 16-3 run to take a 93-78 lead with 6:38 left in the game.
NorthPort rallied back and cut the lead down to seven, 97-90, but Blackwater held them scoreless in the final 1:26 of the game to escape.
However, the game did not end well for Coaches Ariel Vanguardia and Pido Jarencio as the latter confronted the former about a late timeout with 6.6 seconds left that the Bossing called, which did not sit well with Jarencio.
Jvee Casio, after being held scoreless last weekend against Ginebra, dropped 22 points again to lead the now 2-1 Blackwater squad alongside three rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
Ato Ular added 17 points, five rebounds, and one assist.
Robert Bolick fired 21 markers along with nine boards, four dimes, and two blocks for NorthPort, which lost its second straight game after a 2-0 start.
