MANILA--New Zealand took advantage of Gilas Pilipinas' error-prone performance to hack out a 106-60 blowout win in the first game of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers Third Window on Thursday at the EventFinda Stadium in Auckland.
The Tall Blacks quickly pulled away from Gilas late in the first quarter and even smothered them in the second quarter, holding them to just eight points.
What hurt Gilas more was that they turned the ball 19 times, leading to 10 Tall Black steals and 32 points off their errors.
Dion Prewster made 15 points and two assists for New Zealand, which completed a 4-0 sweep of the WCQ first round.
Finn Delany added 14 points, seven rebounds, and one steal.
Carl Tamayo put up 16 points, five rebounds, and one assist to lead Gilas, who fell to 1-2.
Gilas will cap its Window 3 stint on Sunday night against India at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
