MANILA--TNT banked on a solid defense and a late run to repulse Meralco, 78-71, in their PBA Philippine Cup game on Saturday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

The Tropang Giga pulled away from the Bolts after going on an 8-0 run that broke a 65-all tie before keeping them at bay the rest of the way.

Despite an error-prone game in which he committed eight turnovers, RR Pogoy led TNT, which moved up to 3-2, with 19 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one block.

Troy Rosario added 16 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one block.

Allein Maliksi fired 20 points, five rebounds, and one steal to lead Meralco, which lost for the first time this conference after going 2-0 at the start.
