MANILA—The Philippine Sports Commission leadership under President Bongbong Marcos is now starting to take shape.

Bowling legend Bong Coo has been named as one of the new commissioners of the said sports agency, making her the first sportsperson appointed by Marcos to either of the government's sports arms, the other being the Games and Amusements Board.

Coo met with PSC executive director Guillermo Iroy, currently acting as the officer-in-charge, on Tuesday, hours after initial reports surfaced of her appointment.

The Bowling Hall of Famer is currently the president of the Philippine Bowling Federation, but she is expected to leave her post with her PSC appointment.

She might also need to vacate her other front office job as the chairwoman of the Philippine Olympic Committee's Women in Sports Commission.

Four more posts, the three other commissioners and the chairman, are still to be filled up even as the new PSC appointees will have a daunting task to at least replicate or even better the success the Butch Ramirez-led group had during the Duterte Administration highlighted by Hidilyn Diaz's historic Olympic gold medal conquest in 2021.
