MANILA--Richard Del Rosario is a winner in his PBA head coaching debut.

Del Rosario, who has taken over the Barangay Ginebra coaching reins on an interim basis with Head Coach Tim Cone joining the Miami Heat coaching staff for its NBA Summer League games, showed on Friday night that he can be a good tactician in the professional basketball ranks too after leading the Gin Kings to a 105-89 win over the Converge FiberXers in their PBA Philippine Cup showdown at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Ginebra slowly pulled away for good in the final three quarters after Converge kept the game tight for most of the first quarter even as the former dropped a 30-point third quarter to open a huge lead the latter found difficult to overhaul in the end.

Scottie Thompson led the Gin Kings, now with a 5-1 record to tie the San Miguel Beermen again at the top of the league table, with 24 points, six rebounds, and six assists.

Japeth Aguilar added 20 points on 8-for-9 shooting, 11 rebounds, and four blocks, while Christian Standhardinger chipped in 13 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

Allyn Bulanadi made 16 points, two rebounds, and four assists to lead the FiberXers, who dropped to a tie with the Phoenix Fuel Masters for ninth place at 2-5.
