By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA—The chieftains of the Converge FiberXers expressed their gratitude to Coach Jeffrey Cariaso as they confirmed that a coaching change is coming.

Converge chief executive officer Dennis Anthony Uy, also the team owner, first thanked Cariaso for keeping the team competitive enough to make the PBA Philippine Cup playoffs in its maiden tournament in Asia's premier play-for-pay basketball league.

"I would like to personally thank Coach Jeff for the competitive spirit that he has instilled in our players. His experience as a player with an illustrious career undoubtedly inspired our young team to reach the playoff stage in our very first conference at the PBA," Uy said in a statement on Wednesday, taking note of Cariaso's playing days highlighted by his 1995 Rookie of the Year win and the 1996 Grand Slam with Alaska, the team Converge bought to enter the league.
