ADT escapes with goalless draw vs. Cebu

By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA--The Azkals Development Team heaved a sigh of relief in the end as Dynamic Herb Cebu could not find the goalmouth despite a splendid offensive game and settled for a goalless draw to kick off Matchday 5 of the PFL season on Saturday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Julian Schwarzer once again proved that he is at par with his father, former Australian national team goalkeeper Mark, as he kept a clean sheet for ADT even if Cebu had a bunch of chances, 22 attempts in total with seven on target.

However, Schwarzer dodged a huge bullet as Ren Okuda had a decent look at the goal during stoppage time but his header only hit the goalpost before sailing back into fair play.

Schwarzer also punched the ball up high in the air to keep a Cebu player from sneaking a header in off a Mert Altinoz free kick right in the final play of the match.

The draw, though, kept both clubs at their respective positions in the league table entering the fifth weekend of the season.

Cebu remains in fourth with five points, while ADT is in fifth with four.
