Cebu edges Manila to open PFL 2nd round

By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA—Dynamic Herb Cebu continues its brilliant run in the PFL with a 1-0 win over Maharlika Manila in a rare Tuesday night clash to open the second round of the season at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona.

Arda Cinkir's goal, which put him on top of the Golden Boot race with seven, was all that mattered in the match as Cebu soared back to the second spot in the league table, although defending champion United Clark has two matches at hand.

JB Borlongan picked a sloppy pass from Joaquin Valdez and found Cinkir inside the box for the fourth minute goal, which turned out to be the only score of the match.

Cebu had some great chances but could not convert, including two from Chima Uzoka that only hit the goalpost.

Nevertheless, Cebu remained unbeaten for the sixth straight match and moved up to 14 points with its fourth win against two draws and one loss.

Maharlika Manila, on the other hand, is still winless after seven matches.
