MANILA—Converge began life with Coach Aldin Ayo at the helm with a bang, tripping Terrafirma, 124-110, to open its bid in the PBA Commissioner's Cup in the league's return to the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

While the scoreline is somehow uncharacteristic of Ayo's "mayhem" system, it was actually the FiberXers' defense in the third quarter that essentially decided the game against the the Dyip.

After a high-scoring yet tight first half, Converge pulled away after outscoring Terrafirma, 31-17, in the third canto as the latter struggled to bounce back in the final frame despite a hot game from import Lester Prosper.

Quincy Miller led the FiberXers with 38 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and one steal, while Maverick Ahanmisi added 18 points, four rebounds, seven assists, and one steal off the bench.

Prosper finished with 43 points, 25 rebounds, five assists, and one block for the Dyip.

Alex Cabagnot posted 13 markers, four boards, and eight dimes in his comeback game after missing the Philippine Cup due to an injury.

Juami Tiongson also had 13 points with two rebounds, five assists, and one steal.
