MANILA—The MPBL has called off its Monday triple-header just as super typhoon "Karding" wrecked havoc in Central and Southern Luzon.
The league issued the postponement on Sunday night while the storm was crossing the said area.
"The MPBL games on Monday at the Caloocan Sports Complex are postponed due to super typhoon 'Karding'. The commissioner's office will soon make an announcement on the new date of the postponed games," the MPBL said in a statement.
Looking to keep their playoff hopes alive, the home team, the Excellence, was scheduled to face the Kyt Jimenez-powered Sarangani Marlins in the main game of the three-game card at 9 p.m.
Also in the supposed schedule, Imus and Muntinlupa fight for survival in the first game at 5 p.m., while Quezon City and Batangas City clash to solidify their playoff seeds in the second game at 7 p.m.
It was not a good start to the MPBL's All-Star Week that will be capped with the All-Star festivities on Sunday night at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum.
However, safety remains the top priority for the regional league.
"The MPBL family is one with the nation in praying for everyone's safety," the statement continued.
