MANILA--Myles Powell came alive in the end as Bay Area prevailed over NorthPort with a 105-104 escape act in the PBA Commissioner's Cup on Saturday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

Powell broke the Batang Pier's hearts right at the final buzzer when he hit a tough left-wing three-pointer off Prince Ibeh's outstretched arms as the Dragons scored their second straight win in the conference.

Powell's buzzer-beater spoiled NorthPort's comeback as prior to that, Robert Bolick and Roi Sumang, the heroes in the team's grind-out win against Phoenix on Wednesday night, scored on back-to-back layups to put their team ahead, 104-102.

However, the Batang Pier could not close out the Dragons after missing their last three attempts, an open layup and a long two-pointer from Arwind Santos, and a three-point attempt from Sumang.

Coach Brian Goorjian decided not to call a timeout after grabbing the rebound, and Powell repaid the trust Goorjian gave to his team by draining the stepback fallaway three after getting past Santos and the help defenses of Ibeh and Arvin Tolentino.

Powell finished with 37 points, six rebounds, and four steals for Bay Area, while Hayden Blankley added 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, one block, and one steal.

Bolick's 33-point explosion and Tolentino's career-high 22-point output with 10 rebounds were flushed by Powell's game-winner as NorthPort dropped to 1-1.
