QUEZON CITY--Yeng Guiao will no longer coach NLEX as the club confirmed on Friday that he has already left them.

According to the team, they mutually agreed to part ways.

“It was a mutual decision between the NLEX Road Warriors management and Coach Yeng Guiao to end the agreement,” the NLEX management said in a statement.

The development came as a shocker as it happened with only three weeks left before the start of the PBA Commissioner's Cup.

Guiao even coached the team during a tuneup game against Blackwater on Thursday at UP Epsilon Chi Center here.

Guiao coached the Road Warriors for the past five full seasons plus the soon-to-end 2022 PBA Philippine Cup.

Under his tutelage, they booked their place in the semifinals twice and even came close to notching a third one after pushing the Magnolia Hotshots to the limit in the Philippine Cup quarterfinals last month.

“We thank him for developing the team. In fact, we reached semis twice and this showed how he professionalized the team,” NLEX further said.

There is no official word on where Guiao is heading next, but the team is wishing him the best.

“We wish Coach Yeng all the best in his future endeavors,” added the NLEX management.
