MANILA--Coach Aldin Ayo got his birthday wish granted on Saturday night as Converge snapped a two-game slide with a 106-99 win against Meralco in their PBA Commissioner's Cup game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The Bolts nearly played as the grinch to Ayo's birthday bash as they clawed back from 22 points down and took a 93-90 lead with 5:34 left.

However, Maverick Ahanmisi came alive from there as he drilled in back-to-back triples to put the FiberXers back up, 96-95, with four and a half minutes remaining.

Cliff Hodge scored a layup to put Meralco back up, 97-96, but Converge responded with a 10-0 run to eventually seal the deal.

Quincy Miller flirted with a rare 5x5 after tallying 29 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, five steals, and three blocks to lead the FiberXers, who moved up to 2-2.

Ahanmisi added 21 points, 12 in the final quarter, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Johnny O'Bryant put up 27 markers, 15 boards, and three dimes, while Hodge contributed 10 points, 10 caroms, one assist, and two swipes for the Bolts, who dropped to 1-3.
