Caloy Yulo enters men's all-around final, tops floor exercise

MANILA—Caloy Yulo is on track of regaining his floor exercise mastery while also getting a shot at a medal in the all-around category following the qualifying phase of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Liverpool early Tuesday (Philippine Time).

Yulo finished third in the all-around category with a total of 84.664 points, easily making the Top 24 cut.

Two Japanese gymnasts, Wataru Tanigawa (84.731) and Daiki Hashimoto (84.665) placed above Yulo.

Yulo, the 2019 floor champ topped his pet event, with 15.266 points while also getting a shot at defending his 2021 vault gold after placing third in the qualifiers with 14.7.

The 2021 parallel bars silver medalist also made the final in the said event after placing fourth with 15.3 points.

Meanwhile, he is waitlisted for the rings final after placing 10th with 14.066 points, that is, he makes the cut if at least two of the finalists beg off.

It will be a busy weekend for Yulo as he plays in the all-around final early Saturday (Philippine Time), the floor final later in the day, and the vault and the parallel bars finals on Sunday night.
