Junior Sam puts on masterclass as Mendiola repeats over Maharlika Manila

By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA—Junior Sam played probably his best performance so far in the PFL season as he led Mendiola to a 3-0 win against Maharlika Manila in a rare Thursday night clash at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona.

Sam opened the scoring for Mendiola with a 37th minute goal after sneaking through the Maharlika Manila defenders and flicking it past Spencer Galasa.

Sam then assisted Ash Flores, the lone scorer in their first meeting, for the second goal of the match in the 57th minute.

Sam capped his brilliant performance by completing a brace in style, putting on an anklebreaker against Alimar Ambong and beating Galasa anew for the 83rd minute goal.

Mendiola won for only the second time this season and moved up to six points entering the FIFA World Cup break.

Maharlika Manila, on the other hand, remains at the cellar with only one point to show.
