Maverick Ahanmisi waxes hot as Converge opens PBA Govs' Cup campaign with rout of NorthPort

MANILA—Maverick Ahanmisi was a man possessed on Sunday night as he led Converge to a 122-92 blowout win against NorthPort in their PBA Governors' Cup meeting at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

Ahanmisi exploded for 29 points even as the FiberXers sizzled for 40 second-quarter points to pull away from the Batang Pier.

Ahanmisi came close to a double-double as he too had nine assists with six rebounds, one steal, and one block for Converge.

Ethan Rusbatch added 17 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, and two steals, while Jerrick Balanza, in his first game back under coach Aldin Ayo's tutelage, chipped in 13 points, one rebound, and four assists.

David Murrell made all of his five field goal attempts and added 12 points with two rebounds and one steal.

Marcus Weathers fired 37 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, three steals, and one block for NorthPort in a game where Robert Bolick was absent.
