MANILA—The PBA approved a straight-up trade between Joshua Munzon and Kevin Ferrer.
The league announced on Thursday that the high-flying Munzon is going to NorthPort, while Ferrer has been traded to Terrafirma.
Both teams initially proposed Javi Gomez De Liaño and MJ Ayaay be added to the mix with the Batang Pier giving up two future second-round picks to the Dyip to sweeten the pot, but both teams opted to go with the Ferrer-Munzon trade instead.
Munzon, formerly the number one 3x3 player in the Philippines before declaring for the 2020 draft, looks to get his career back on track after seeing his numbers dip in the Commissioner's Cup.
Munzon averaged 8.8 points on a dismal 30 percent field goal shooting including 23 percent on threes and 55 percent free throw shooting, 3.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.3 blocks a game as Terrafirma went 1-11 this conference.
Ferrer, on the other hand, had also gone quiet this conference especially with fellow forwards Arvin Tolentino and William Navarro emerging for NorthPort, averaging 7.7 points, 1.4 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.1 blocks a game.
However, Ferrer's impressive stats during the quarterfinals, where he averaged 16.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per night in the two matches against Ginebra is something Terrafirma can bank on.
